Another thing that could make you feel hopeless is counselors informing you that you have come from a “dysfunctional family.” Well, who has not come from a dysfunctional family!? Look at the first family unit: Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel. Cain killed Abel by knocking him on the head with a rock. Every family or person has problems, and sin is in all lives and in all families. You are not alone, and your situation is not hopeless. I believe God when He speaks through the Apostle Paul: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
