Loving God’s Beautiful Authority
December 13, 2019Who are You Glorifying with Your Choices?
December 15, 2019John chapter 12 has a deep lesson for us all. Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!”
Faith believes that there is a clear directing hand from the Heavens on those in authority. Faith requires that you understand that a lack of peace is usually your own fault when it comes to authority—even if the person in authority is not perfect. If you wait for perfection in an authority as a reason to submit, you will never practice submission. Jesus told Pilate that He had no power over His life other than what was given by the Heavens. He submitted to the sentence of death on a cross, knowing His life was in the hands of God. In the presence of authority, even if it is your husband, you must keep your words few and Spirit-led and keep your expressions respectful and your focus and trust in the Creator. After you have perfected loving, faithful submission where the triangle is used daily, give it some time. Just wait and see. The wait is worth it. Everything will turn around.
