Leaving the High Places for the Promised Land

Rise Above by Gwen ShamblinThe Bible talks a lot about high places or strongholds—things we cling to in order to cope with this ever-changing orbiting world where the winds change daily! High places are mentioned more than sixty times in the Bible. Remember, the children of Israel held on to Egypt and they could not get out on their own, but God rescued them, taking them to the desert of testing and finally to the Promised Land. In the Promised Land, there is less competition for your heart because your heart has chosen to worship and adore only God, and it no longer desires your past strongholds. The Promised Land is where the heart has transferred its passion. It craves only approval and love from the Father and Jesus Christ, His Son.
