Let Us Have a Feast and Celebrate!

Rise Above by Gwen Shamblin

Jesus told us this story about the father and the son who was not a spiritual superstar: The son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again!’ (Luke 15:21–24a).

So God is saying to everyone now: Quick! And immediately, you will be celebrating. You could be celebrating with God right now. When you are throwing your heart toward the Father and adoring Jesus, you will grow in confidence of God’s love for you. Never hesitate to ask for God’s assurance. God’s beloved David would get up in the mornings and look for God’s unfailing love. As he said in Psalm 143:8a, Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Since my twenties, whenever I have needed God’s reassurance, I have asked Him to send a sign. Answered prayers have built my faith so much.
